Deactivate Steam Cloud - how it works
Steam stores your saves in a cloud. If you do not need this, you can also deactivate this behavior.
Deactivate the savegame cloud from Steam
Game settings and savegames have long been in the cloud on Steam by default. It works with almost all games. If you prefer to save your settings yourself, proceed as follows:
- Open Steam and right click on a game where you don't want the savegames to end up in the cloud.
- Now click on "Properties". Under the "Updates" tab you will find a check mark next to "Activate Steam Cloud synchronization for game XY" at the bottom, which you must remove.
- You can also find the same option under "Steam" -> "Settings" -> "Cloud". If you remove the check here, the Steam Cloud is deactivated for all games.
You can also share your games with friends or family members. We'll show you how to share your Steam library.
