Fix Steam error 130 - Here's how
If error 130 appears on Steam, no connection to the server can be established. We'll show you how to fix it.
Steam: Fix error 130
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "inetcpl.cpl" here and confirm with "OK". Then a small window opens.
- Go to the "Connections" tab above and click on the "LAN Settings" button below.
- If there is a checkmark in front of the "Use proxy server for LAN" option, remove it.
- If you close the two windows with "OK", your settings will be saved. If the error is not resolved, read on in the next paragraph.
Steam error 130: Other troubleshooting
- Steam: Restarting Steam can do little miracles in some cases.
- Restart: Even restarting Windows clears small errors in the buffer.
- Anti-virus software: Briefly deactivate your virus protection and restart Steam. Your virus protection may block the connection to Steam. Virus protection software with an integrated firewall in particular likes to block the ports.
- Server problems: There may be only one problem with Steam itself. Here you can find out whether Steam currently has server problems.
