Steam: Get Gems - Here's how it works
Steam Gems was launched in 2014 with the winter sale and has remained as a virtual currency until today. In this article, we will tell you how to get the gemstones and what you can do with them.
Steam Gems: How to get gems
During the Winter Sales 2014 you could still get the Steam Gems from purchases in the store and thus even bid on individual games. Although this no longer works, the gemstones are still available.
- The easiest way to get Steam Gems is to turn objects from your inventory into gems. To do this, click on your profile name in Steam and then "Inventory". Select any object there and click on "Convert to gems ...". The text behind it shows you the value of your trading card. The gems will then appear directly in your inventory.
- The following applies here: the rarer a trading card or another object, the more gems you get. However, it can also be worthwhile to sell special cards in the community market.
- Alternatively, you can buy gems in the community market for real money. To do this, click on "Community" in Steam and then on "Market". Enter the term "gemstones" in the search field and choose one of the offers.
- You can create a booster pack of trading cards for every 1, 000 gems. In some games, the packs only cost 750 gems.
- To do this, open your inventory again and select the gemstones. Then click on "Create Booser Pack ...". Then choose one of the offered packs and create it. You will then find the trading cards in your inventory. There you can either unpack or sell the booster pack.
- Alternatively, the Steam Gems can also be sold directly. To do this, click "Put gems in a sack" in your inventory. This way you can sell all gems in the community market at once. Just enter your desired price here and wait until another player purchases your gems. The money is automatically added to your Steam account.
On the next page, we will tell you whether you can then withdraw this credit. This article is based on Steam v017.
