Connect and set up Steam Link - Here's how
In this article, we'll show you how to connect and set up Steam Link. Steam Link promises to transfer PC gaming from your computer to any screen on your network.
Connect Steam Link - network cable
Steam Link comes with three network plugs. You only need the well-known 2-pin European power plug to supply your Steam console with power.
- First connect one end of the power cord to Steam Link.
- Plug the other end of the cable into an available electrical outlet.
Connect Steam Link to the internet
There are two ways to connect to the Internet: Either you connect Steam Link to your WiFi network or you use the supplied LAN cable. All you have to do is connect Steam Link to a free LAN slot on your router. If you want to connect Steam Link to WiFi, you can do this later.
Image transmission using HDMI
To transfer the image from Steam Link to your screen, you need to connect the supplied HDMI cable to your TV and the Steam Link console. If your TV does not have an HDMI connection, you can also connect Steam Link to your TV using a VGA adapter.
Set up Steam Link
- Start your PC and open Steam.
- Place a check next to "Home Streaming" in the settings.
- Now switch on your TV and connect up to 3 input devices (e.g. keyboard, mouse, controller) to Steam Link.
- You are now in the Steam Link settings. Here you can connect Steam Link to the WiFi network if you are not using a LAN cable.
- Steam Link automatically detects your PC if it is on the same network. Now you can control your entire PC via your controller and of course enjoy your games on the PC.
