Steam: Install game from DVD - Here's how
If you want to install a game on Steam from the DVD and not download it from Steam's servers, you just have to do a little trick. We'll show you how it's done.
Install Steam Games from the DVD
- When installing games, Steam always wants to download the data from its own server. If you have the game DVD, this is not necessary.
- Especially if the servers of Steam are overloaded again, you can save yourself several hours. To do this, insert the DVD into your computer.
- Then start downloading the game by entering the Steam code. You can pause or end the download immediately after starting. Then follow the instructions below.

- Launch Steam on your computer and go to the library above.
- Right click on the game you want and select "Clear Local Data".
- Now close Steam completely. Make sure Steam is no longer open in the system tray.
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ Steam.exe" -install E: "and confirm with" OK ".
- Then Steam starts and starts installing from the DVD.
- Note: If you fail at point 5, the file "Steam.exe" is under a different path or your DVD drive does not have the letter E. If necessary, adjust the data in the command.
