Install Steam games on external hard drive
To use external media, you only need to add it as an installation path for games. With new installations you can then choose between the different paths:
- Start Steam and open the settings via the top menu.
- Click the "Downloads" option.
- You can view your existing installation paths using the "Steam library folder" option. The number of games installed and the amount of used and free memory are also listed here.
- Then click on "Add Directory". You can now select your data carriers in the upper selection. In the list below you can select any folder on the selected internal or external data medium.
- After adding a new directory, you can select the path for each new installation.
