Steam Summer Sale: Tips for saving money
Saving money in the "Steam Summer Sale" is not that easy. The numerous discounts quickly tempt you to buy. This is particularly annoying if the games become cheaper after purchase. Here's how to avoid it.
Save money on the Steam Summer Sale
If you follow the tips below, you can save a lot of money in Steam's Summer Sale.
- Start with a fixed amount that you don't want to exceed during sales. So for each game, think twice about whether the game is worth the money.
- Read a few reviews and tests before you buy so you know what to expect in the game. For example, you can find out more on our game test page.
- Only buy games that you definitely want to play in the near future. Games that you might want to play in half a year are sure to be on offer again by then, probably even cheaper.
- If you are unsure whether you will play the game, you can also buy it as a gift and save it in your inventory. From there you can add it to your library at any time, give it to a friend or sell it in the "Steam Community Market".
- Buy only day or lightning deals. All other games may come later with a cheaper price. On the last day of sales, you can still buy the game you want.
- Use the wish list to only get offers that are actually interesting. If you have maintained these, you will only see a few instead of hundreds of offers.
- If you bought a game that you later consider a bad buy, you can easily return it. How to return a Steam game can be read in another practical tip.
- Before making a purchase, check whether it is actually a good offer. You can track this, for example, with the Chrome add-on "Enhanced Steam".
