Steam: what is VAC? Explained in a simple and understandable way
In connection with Steam there is often talk of VAC. You can find out what lies behind in the practical tip below.
Steam VAC: This is Valve Anti-Cheat
The Valve anti-cheat system is hidden behind the abbreviation VAC:
- With this system, players who cheat on VAC-secured servers are permanently excluded from these servers.
- The VAC system works completely automatically. So you don't have to report Cheater to Steam support.
- A VAC exclusion is permanent and will never be withdrawn.
Steam VAC: These changes trigger an exclusion
The following changes trigger a VAC lock:
- A change to the executable .exe file.
- Changes to the game's .dll files.
- All cheats and hacks that give you an advantage over your other players.
Steam VAC: These changes are allowed
If you make the following changes, you don't risk being locked by the VAC system:
- If you use a chat program that accesses your open games. This includes, for example, XFire.
- Hardware changes to your computer.
- Update your PC's drivers.
