Steam: where are my installed games?
The location of Steam should be carefully considered, since all installed games end up in a folder and the hard drive is quickly filled. We'll show you where to find your games and how to move them around easily.
Storage location for steam games
- With Steam, most of your installed games are saved under the following path: "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ SteamApps \ Common".
- Games developed directly by Valve - for example Counter Strike or Half Life - are saved in a different folder. The address is as follows, the last folder should be named after your account name: "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Steam \ SteamApps \ Tim".
- If a new game is installed, you cannot save it anywhere else. How to move already installed games, however, read in the next paragraph.
Move Steam games to another hard drive or UBS stick
If you have installed a large number of games via Steam, your hard drive may quickly become full. You can move the games with a small tool:
- Download the free "Steam Mover" and open the EXE file. Installation is not necessary.
- The installed games are recognized automatically. It is also shown on the right which games use how much storage space.
- In the top right corner you can select the path into which the games should be copied. If you click the arrow next to a game, it will be broadcast.
In this practical tip, you can read how to reinstall Steam in the event of problems.
