Steep thesis: milk is poison - that is behind it
"Milk is poison." This steep thesis was put forward by the Youtuber Simon Unge at the beginning of the year. It caused a lot of discussion among opponents of milk and supporters of milk. We will show you whether milk is really harmful or whether it is good for your body.
Milk is poison to you
Provocatively, Simon Unge explained that we get sick from consuming the toxic milk. It is often said that milk is not good for our body. Milk makes you fat, causes acne and increases the risk of dying from a heart attack. But even babies can tolerate milk and can only survive through breast milk.
- Milk is an important supplier of calcium, proteins, fats and iodine. We could not survive without these substances.
- Milk is always suspected of causing diseases such as diabetes or cardiovascular problems. But the opposite is the case: milk consumption even lowers the risk.
- That milk is carcinogenic is partly correct: in fact, increased milk consumption increases the risk of prostate cancer. However, other types of cancer are not negatively affected by milk.
- The hormones in milk can cause pimples to get worse or worsen existing acne. If you suffer from this skin disease, it is better not to drink too much milk.
- Milk can prevent the absorption of iron in our body: this shows in paleness and fatigue.
- If you cannot tolerate lactose, i.e. milk sugar, you should of course not consume dairy products. Positive effects of milk or not.
Milk is toxic to the environment
Milk has many positive properties on the body and does not poison it. However, the production of milk is really not good for the environment.
- Most greenhouse gases are caused by CO2 emissions in agriculture. The keeping of cows and their milk production is therefore partly responsible for climate change.
- The dairy cows also want to be fed, which leads to a further environmental problem. Due to the increased use of the soil for fodder cultivation, this must be fertilized. However, too much fertilizer leads to polluted groundwater and the death of many living things.
- Ultimately, unfortunately, not all cows are kept appropriately and not treated like a living being, but like a machine. The conditions on the farms are often anything but animal-friendly.
- Alternatives to animal milk are oat milk or soy milk. These types of milk are far more environmentally friendly.
Why low-fat milk makes you thicker than whole milk
Although a glass of milk is not harmful to you and your body, you should consider switching to plant-based milk replacers for the sake of the environment. Read in the next practical tip whether almond milk is an equally good milk alternative.
