Stiftung Warentest: Testing mobile phone purchase portals
Stiftung Warentest tested mobile phone purchase portals: Who pays the most for an iPhone or a smartphone like the Galaxy S5 Mini from Samsung? In the test, all major buyers and sellers got brand new iPhones and Samsung smartphones ("used - like new"), but often only paid alarmingly little for them. We summarize the results and show where you can get the most money for your smartphone.
Stiftung Warentest: These buying portals pay the most money
Buying portals are like sand at sea: some only buy smartphones, others also sell used models. You get the most money from retailers who buy and sell smartphones:
- Clevertronic pays the most for smartphones and therefore wins the Stiftung Warentest test (rating: 2.0): 125 euros was available for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and 220 euros for the iPhone 5s. The money is already in the account after three days.
- However, if you describe the smartphone in the purchase form worse than it really is, you will end up with the lower price. The situation is different with the second-placed AsGoodAsNew.com: This buyer is so fair and pays more if the smartphone is better than specified after the assessment. Likewise Flip4New, which in the end often pays less than the test winner. With these tips you get the most money out of your smartphone.
- Handy-Bestkauf.de was particularly bold: After sending in the brand new iPhone 5s, the dealer announced that he only wanted to pay 25 euros because of errors ... Of course, this does not leave a good impression at Stiftung Warentest.
Purchase check from Stiftung Warentest: MediaMarkt, Apple & Co get bad grades
The test result from Stiftung Warentest for consumer electronics stores and the Apple purchase service is catastrophic:
- MediaMarkt and Saturn bought the smartphones directly on the market, but then sent them to Flip4New themselves. The customer received up to 45 euros less than if he himself had sent the smartphones to Flip4New. In addition, Flip4New pays around 20 to 30 percent less than test winner Clevertronic. Instead of cash, the customer only gets a voucher from MediaMarkt or Saturn.
- Apple skimps on purchases like no other: For the iPhone 5s, only about half of what the test winner Clevertronic paid. In addition, Apple only buys when the device is in good condition. Otherwise customers won't see a cent.
- All details can be found at test.de. Incidentally, the sale of very old cell phones is often worthwhile. Our sales overview provides more information.
Goods test gives the green light: Only here you can buy a used cell phone
Stiftung Warentest not only checked the purchase of cell phones, but also sales:
- "Only Clevertronic sold used mobile phones in good quality", was the conclusion of Stiftung Warentest. And at fair prices. In contrast, the smartphones of AsGoodAsNew, Zoxs and Rebuy had clear quirks.
- At Zoxs, for example, the smartphone had a bloated battery, an AsGoodAsNew model got hot and kept crashing. Such smartphones are clearly defective and should be sent in. Under no circumstances should they be resold as "in very good condition" according to Stiftung Warentest.
Conclusion: Clevertronic top - specialist stores ...
- Selling a used cell phone: You can get the best price for your smartphone from Clevertronic. However, you have to describe the condition well, because if the smartphone is better than described, you will not get more money. If you are unsure how good the smartphone is, either rate it better or sell it at AsGoodAsNew.com. They also pay more money when the smartphone is worth it.
- Buy a used cell phone: Only Clevertronic delivered a smartphone to our home without any defects and at a fair price.
- Tip: There is also money for defective cell phones on many purchase portals.
