Stiftung Warentest: iPhone 6 loses against Samsung
Stiftung Warentest calls the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in its November edition to the test laboratory. In addition to the tough Samsung competition, the Apple flagships now also have to prove themselves against the recently released LG G3. But it is not enough for first place in this test either - we present the results in a compact form.
Product test: iPhone 6 Plus missed the top spot
If Stiftung Warentest awarded a 2.0 for the iPhone 5S and 5C, the new iPhone 6 Plus climbs a little higher in the ranking.
- For the first time since 2013, there is the one before the decimal point for an iPhone: with a grade of 1.9, the iPhone 6 Plus achieves a new record among Apple smartphones. The slightly smaller iPhone 6 also gets the rating "Good" with 2.0.
- When it comes to surfing, emailing, listening to music and using it as a navigation device, both iPhone models are outstanding. However, they disappointed in two tests: In terms of stability, the Samsung smartphones outperform, as well as the battery life. For the iPhone 6 there was only one "satisfactory" in this category.
- In the overall product test ranking, the iPhone 6 Plus is in second place for around 800 euros and the iPhone 6 (price: around 700 euros) in third place. You can find more information in the comparison between iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
Product test winner Samsung does not allow itself to be chased away from the lead
Despite two new iPhones, there is no spectacular change at the top of the top list: Samsung remains number 1, but with a new smartphone.
- The test winner at Stiftung Warentest is the Samsung Galaxy S5 with a grade of 1.8 ("good"). At around 450 euros, it costs almost half as much as the new iPhone models, but it even boasts a top battery life.
- At Stiftung Warentest it impressed with its high-resolution 16 megapixel camera and a particularly large display. In contrast to the iPhone, the memory can be expanded.

CHIP leaderboard: These smartphones beat the iPhone 6
Even if Stiftung Warentest puts the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on the podium, we were able to find even better smartphones in the CHIP test laboratory.
- The CHIP leaderboard is currently led by the Galaxy Note 4, closely followed by the Sony Xperia Z3.
- The iPhone 6, on the other hand, only makes sixth place, the iPhone 6 Plus has even beaten ten other smartphones and is in 11th place.
- When looking for a top smartphone, you shouldn't miss the top iPhone alternatives. We are testing the latest iPhone generation against the rest of the world.
If it shouldn't necessarily be Apple: At Stiftung Warentest numerous Android and Windows smartphones were also tested.
