Stiftung Warentest examined various music streaming services: The result was clear, but also surprising. We show you what the test winner should do so much better than the competition, summarize the results and relate the test results to our large CHIP music streaming test.
Music streaming service Juke is test winner at Stiftung Warentest
The music streaming service Juke from Saturn Holding was rated 1.8 by Stiftung Warentest and is thus the test winner. He even beats the major streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music. The reasons for this:
- Selection: Stiftung Warentest particularly praised Juke's large selection. There are only small gaps in the genres of hip-hop and dance.
- Customer service: The provider also convinces with good customer service. Another important aspect is that the small print at Juke is fair from a consumer perspective.
- Price-performance ratio: At € 9.99 a month, Juke is on par with most streaming services.
Apple, Amazon, Spotify: defects in the small print
In the test, eleven different music streaming offers from Stiftung Warentest were compared. The repertoire of songs, listening quality, customer service and user-friendly operation played a crucial role. All services offer users a large selection of songs.
- An exception is Amazon Prime, which provide significantly fewer songs for their users.
- Amazon Prime, Spotify and Apple Music do particularly badly in terms of terms and conditions. So Spotify can cancel the streaming subscription at any time without giving reasons, while Apple Music passes the location data of the customers to third parties without consent.
Amazon Prime is last, Deezer in second place
In the test, Deezer Music took second place with a grade of 2.1. Tidal made it to third place, the music streaming service of rapper Jay Z. Apple Music ranked 5th, Spotify ranked 7th. Amazon Prime came in last place in eleventh place with a grade of 3.8. The advantage of Amazon Prime, however, is the cost: the subscription costs only 49 euros per year and is therefore significantly below the competition. By the way, Spotify is also available for free, but with significant restrictions in use. All details about the test can be found at test.de.
CHIP-Test chooses Spotify as the test winner
In the CHIP test, Spotify was named "very good" as the test winner because of the particularly high level of comfort that the streaming service offers users. Deezer and Apple Music took second and third place. Stiftung Warentest test winner Juke only finishes in sixth place. Amazon Prime also rates CHIP as the worst alternative in terms of convenience, selection and functions. By the way, if you still cannot decide which music streaming service suits you, almost all providers offer a free trial period.
