Stiftung Warentest tests cordless lawn mowers: The test winners at a glance
Cordless lawn mowers are quiet and can be used flexibly thanks to the wireless power supply. Stiftung Warentest has now tested devices from 11 manufacturers. These models did the best.
Test winner: easy handling
- The test winner is also the most expensive model in the test. Viking's MA 339 C narrowly prevailed over the competition. The cordless mower costs an impressive € 700, but it also copes very well with tall grass.
- The MA 339 C is also the most environmentally friendly model. Ultimately, however, it stood out from the competition because of its easy handling. Its "single-handle handle" makes operation particularly easy.

2nd place: Best price performance
- When it comes to price / performance, Bosch wins with its inexpensive Rotak 37 Li.
- The Rotak 37 Li convinced the testers even in poor soil conditions. The Rotak was the only model to deliver good mowing results even when the breed was wet. Its price is 450 €.
3rd place: robustness
- Just as expensive as the Bosch mower, but with a metal housing, the Moweo 42.5 Li from Al-Ko comes in third place.
- It handled dry lawns best of all devices tested. Higher grass lengths are also no problem for the mower, as it has a powerful engine.
- However, the handling of the "Moweo" is cumbersome. When changing the cutting length, all 4 wheels must always be changed.
- Despite this shortcoming, the cordless lawnmower from Al-Ko places itself in front of the Ryobi and Bauhaus models. RLM18X40H240 from Ryobi delivers average quality and is characterized by its long battery life. The Gardol from Bauhaus came fifth in the ranking. Despite good mowing performance, the model could not rank higher because it is bulky and prone to clogging due to wet grass.
Prohibited toxins in two models - stay away!
- Two cordless lawn mowers could not withstand the safety regulations of the Stiftung Warentest and fell through the test.
- The models from Greenworks Tools and Wolf-Garten contain prohibited toxins on their handles. The plastic on the handles contains chlorine paraffins which are harmful to the environment and health. Both specimens were rated "poor", although the Wolf-Garten scored "good" when cutting dry and damp lawns.
