Sky Q: What is it actually?
Sky Q has been in the UK since 2016. Only since May 2, 2018, Sky Q has finally been available in Germany.
- Sky Q is primarily the system that runs on the Sky receivers. This has got a big update.
- The new operating system is visually much nicer to look at, looks tidier and is easier to use. In addition to the face lift, there are also numerous new functions.
- All Sky receivers receive an update to Sky Q via update. In addition, the range of functions of Sky Q is also available as an app for Smart TVs and smartphones.
- At the same time as Sky Q was launched, Sky also introduced a new receiver that is optimized for Sky Q. With 1 TB of storage, you can save up to 300 hours of TV recordings.
Streaming with Sky Q: these are the new functions
When the receiver is started, the new, clearly arranged menu appears on the left. Here you can see the content that has started or browse the program magazine.
- However, while you are navigating through the menu, you do not have to miss the current TV program. It always continues in the top right of the picture. If a program is running in the Sky TV program, you can start the program again from the beginning with just one push of a button.
- If you watch a series, you no longer have to laboriously start the next episode by hand. The next episode then starts automatically. Series that you watched on the go or on a PC can be viewed on the receiver at the same point.
- The category "Apps" is also new. Here you can access the ARD and ZDF media libraries, but also Netflix. Other providers are to follow.
- With Sky Q, streaming in UHD quality 3840x2160 pixels is finally possible. The selection of corresponding 4K content is still very manageable.
