Saving electricity on iOS 7 - top 5 tips for longer battery life
Under iOS7, iPhone and iPad users are again forced to save energy. These five tips will help you get more out of your battery.
Power saving tip 5: Settings in the iOS7 control center
In the control center, you can save electricity with three settings. To open the control center, swipe your finger up from the bottom edge of the screen.
- WLAN: At the top you see five round symbols. Use the second from the left to switch the WLAN on and off. If you do not use the WLAN or are on the go, deactivate one of the most greedy power guzzlers with this option.
- Bluetooth: You should also switch off Bluetooth when you don't need it.
- Screen brightness: Even a screen that is too bright drains the battery.
Power saving tip 4: Deactivate background update
With this option, apps reload data in the background - news apps update content, location-based services update the GPS location. Via Settings | General | Background updates can be deactivated individually via the app, which in turn saves battery life.
Power saving tip 3: Deactivate parallax effect
When you move your iPhone, the image on the lock screen, your background image and all your apps move with you. This can not only be tiring for the eyes, but also sucks on the battery.
- Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
- Select the "General" menu item there.
- Press "Accessibility" here.
- If you scroll down a bit you will find the item "Reduce movement".
- Activate the function of the same name here (see picture).
Power saving tip 2: Switch off automatic app updates
If this option is activated, apps update themselves automatically in the background. You can prevent this for rarely used apps that do not always have to be up-to-date. This iOS7 tip explains how to do this.
Power saving tip 1: Limit the search for spotlights
You can search your device using Spotlight Search. In order to always be up to date, the search for every change updates itself. You can restrict this or switch it off entirely.
- Open the "Settings" app.
- Select the "General" menu item there.
- Click on the "Spotlight search" here.
- Uncheck all categories that should not be included in the search. If you do not use the search at all, you can also remove all checkmarks.
