Read the electricity meter correctly
Your network operator can ask you to send him your meter reading by reading card. Otherwise, your consumption is estimated using older consumer figures. With a self-acceptance, you guarantee against an estimate that you only pay as much as you have actually used. How to read the counter:
- The electricity meter is located in the electrical box. In apartment buildings, these boxes are often installed in the basement.
- Open the box to find and read the meter number of your electricity meter. This number is often located below the disc (marked in red on the photo). The position of the meter number on the electricity meter varies depending on the manufacturer. With the help of the meter number, the electricity meter can be specifically assigned to a consumer point and the electricity consumption can be tracked. Tip: The meter number of your electricity meter is also on your electricity bills if you are unsure.
- You can read the power consumption on the black roller counter on your electricity meter. The single tariff meter shows your current electricity consumption in kilowatt hours (kWh). Note: Read your consumption only up to the red mark. The number on the far right is after the comma and is not noted.
- Note: The electricity meter does not show the annual consumption, but the consumption since commissioning. If you want to determine your current annual consumption, then you have to compare your electricity bills.
