Delete super cookies - how it works
Super cookies cannot simply be deleted via the browser like normal cookies. We'll show you how it's done.
Step 1: delete super cookies from the PC
Super cookies not only hide well, they are also durable and cross-browser. In Windows, press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously and, depending on the system, enter one of the following commands. On the Mac you need the terminal for this. The folder with the super cookies then opens.
- Windows:% AppData% \ Macromedia \ Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
- Windows 7:% AppData% \ Roaming \ Macromedia \ Flash Player \ #SharedObjects
- Mac OS X: ~ / Library / Preferences / Macromedia / Flash Player / # SharedObjects
- Linux: ~ / .macromedia / Flash_Player / # SharedObjects
Step 2: block flash cookies
Note: In addition to flash cookies, DOM cookies are also widespread. However, these are usually deleted with the normal cookies.
- To prevent the flash cookies from being created, all you have to do is open a small setting on the Adobe Flash Player.
- Open the following Adobe website, you will see the small Adobe Settings Manager.
- Under the "Global Storage Settings" pull the slider all the way to the left, so that no space is released for super cookies.
- Remove the ticks from the options below and close the window. Super cookies are now a thing of the past.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to check the security of a password.
