to delete svchost.exe?
You can find the "svchost.exe" process several times in your task manager. However, you should generally not delete it. In this article you can read what exactly is behind it.
svchost.exe - delete or not?
- The svchost.exe process is a grouping of various services that are loaded when Windows starts. It is required, among other things, by DLL files which, for example, enable the "plug and play" of USB sticks. So you shouldn't actually delete svchost.exe.
- Exception: In the Task Manager you can check where the process started. In a "normal" svchost process, this is the "System32" folder in the Windows directory (see picture). If not, it may be a virus. Then you should immediately run a virus scan.
- If svchost.exe consumes a lot of processor power, this may be due to a faulty Windows update. Read here how to safely remove the right process.
A similar service is the SSDP search service, which often ensures high CPU utilization. It can also be removed in some cases.
