Synology: set up DDNS - how it works
If you want to access your Synology NAS from the Internet, you need to set up DDNS. In this practical tip, we will show you how the facility works.
Set up DDNS under Synology - so it'll work
- Start the NAS as usual and log in with your account.
- Change there to the "Control Panel" and start the tool "QuickConnect".
- First activate the checkbox "Activate QuickConnect" and click on "Register now" if you don't have an account yet.
- If you already have an account, enter your user name and password under the checkbox. In the "QuickConnect ID" field you can assign a name for your NAS.
- If you do not have an account yet, click on "Register now" and enter your email address and a password as well as your name. Confirm with OK".
- After you have activated your account, you must enter the data as described above. Activate the service by clicking on "Apply".
- You can now reach your NAS at "//quickconnect.to/" followed by the ID you assigned. For example, if you assigned the ID "chip", the address is "//quickconnect.to/chip". You can then log in with your account there.
- Note: So that the NAS can also go online, you have to start the "EZ-Internet Wizard" tool. First select how the NAS is connected to the Internet and click on "Next". Then follow the instructions.
