Set up and activate Synology FTP client
In order to access your Synology NAS with an FTP client, you need to activate the FTP function.
- Log in and open the firewall settings under "Control Panel> External Access".
- Enable the TCP ports 20, 21 and 1025-65535.
- Now open the FTP settings under "Control Panel> File Services> FTP".
- Activate the checkmark at "Activate FTP service".
Access the system via FTP
After you have activated FTP on your NAS, you can now access your data with an FTP client.
- The free program FileZilla is suitable as an FTP client. Install this on your computer if you do not yet have an FTP program.
- Connect your client to your NAS. To do this, enter the IP address of your device as the host.
- Username and password are the credentials that you use to access your NAS.
- The port used is 21.
- You can now connect your client to your device.
