Synology: Setting up a mail server - a guide
You can set up and use a mail server on your Synology NAS. In this practical tip, we will show you exactly how this works.
Set up mail server under Synology - how it works
Proceed as follows to set up the mail server quickly and easily under Synology.
- Open the "Package Center" on your Synology NAS and search for the "MailPlus Server". Click "Install" and wait for the installation to complete.
- Start the "MailPlus Server" from the desktop and in the first step select "Create new email system". Confirm with "Next".
- Enter the domain name of the email in the "Email system host name" field. The domain name is the part after the "@" of the email. For example, if you have the email address " ", you must enter "test.de" here. Continue with "Next".
- Now you see an overview with your data. If the data is correct, complete the setup with "Apply".
- The next step is to log in to your Synology account so that the mail server is activated. You receive a free license for each account, which you can use to create up to five email accounts.
- So that you can also access your e-mails via the NAS, you have to install the "MailPlus" client in the "Package Center". In the "Package Center" enter "MailPlus" in the search field and then click on "Install".
- After the installation you can either log in via the client or in the browser via "mydiskstation / mail".
