Synology: connection failed - you can do that
Especially when you have saved all important files on your Synology, it is annoying when the connection to the system has failed. You can find out what you can do in this case in this practical tip.
Connection to Synology NAS fails - you can do that
- Even if it seems obvious: First of all, check whether your Synology is switched on. This can save you a lot of work. Also test the network connection of your computer.
- Next, check whether all components of your network are intact. Pay particular attention that, for example, switches work and that all cables are plugged in.
- Open the web interface of your NAS. You can do this by typing Synology's IP address in the address bar of your browser. Log in and go to System Settings> Network> Network Interface> Lan. Set "Use DHCP" to "Yes". This will assign an IP address and your device should be connected again.
- If you cannot reach your Synology via the network, simply restart the NAS and all components in your network. This can solve many problems.
- Open the web interface of your router and assign it a static IP address. This means that your NAS can still be reached at the same address in your home network after a restart. Also make sure that your computer knows the correct IP address of your Synology.
- If these tips have not resolved the problem, contact Synology Customer Service.
