Speed up system startup with PCI Lock
In this practical tip, we explain how to speed up the system start with the "PCI Lock" function.
Activate PCI Lock in Windows 7
If the "PCI Lock" function is activated in Windows 7, the operating system no longer assigns interrupts (IRQ) and system resources, but leaves this task entirely to the BIOS. This can lead to faster booting, but can also produce a blue screen. To activate PCI Lock:
- Enter "msconfig" in the start menu.
- Right-click on the search hit and select "Run as administrator".
- Switch on the "PCI Lock" via "Start | Advanced Options".
- Now your PC should start faster. However, if you get a blue screen, the second paragraph will help you.
Blue screen after PCI Lock - so you fix the problem
If you get a blue screen, start Windows in safe mode and deactivate the "PCI Lock" again.
