If your iPhone is no longer locked by a SIM lock from T-Mobile, you can have the device unlocked. We'll show you how it's done.
Remove SIM lock: Unlock iPhone from T-Mobile
All older iPhone models are currently released from SIM lock after activation via iTunes. An iPhone 4S purchased from July 23, 2012 is automatically released from the SIM lock after connection to iTunes. An iPhone 5 purchased from 02/21/2013 no longer has a SIM lock.
- To unlock your iPhone at Telekom, open this link. Enter the IMEI number of your device here and click on the "Check data" button. You can find out the IMEI number by calling the number "* # 06 #" (without quotation marks) on your phone.
- Now select the appropriate model from the list and click on "Selection". With the "Unlock now" button, your order will be sent to Telekom.
- Telekom then forwards your order to Apple. This can take from a few hours to a few days. If you carry out the first two steps again, you can see the status of your order.
- If Apple has released your iPhone for unlocking, you can connect it to your computer and start a backup via iTunes. You will then receive a message that your device can now be activated.
- Follow the further instructions, your iPhone will be completely rebuilt. You can then transfer the backup back to the iPhone and insert a new SIM card.
