Move table in OpenOffice - how it works
In OpenOffice you can insert tables into a document quite easily - but they are not so easy to move. This practical tip shows you how to place the table at the desired position.
OpenOffice: Move table using "copy and paste"
- Left-click anywhere in the table.
- In the menu bar, select Table -> Select -> Table to mark the entire table. Alternatively, you can also mark all fields of the table manually with the mouse pointer.
- Press the key combination [Ctrl] + [X] to cut the table.
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the table. Then press the key combination [Ctrl] + [V].
- To delete the old empty table, click in an empty field and then select Table -> Delete -> Table in the menu bar.
OpenOffice: Move table with a frame
It is a little easier if you place the table in a frame. This can be moved with the mouse:
- Left-click anywhere in the table.
- In the menu bar, select Table -> Select -> Table to mark the entire table. Alternatively, you can also mark all fields of the table with the mouse pointer.
- Select Insert -> "Frame ..." in the menu bar. In the "Outline" tab, select the line style "None". Then click on the OK button.
- You can now adjust the height and width of the table by dragging the frame. There is also an anchor symbol next to the table with which you can move the table. To do this, click on the anchor and move the table to the desired position.
In another practical tip, we explain how to make the edges of a table invisible in OpenOffice.
