Tablets with dual boot OS: Android and Windows in one device
Tablets with a dual boot OS are an exciting concept in which Android and Windows are installed side by side on one device. Unfortunately, there are very few devices of this type so far.
Asus Transformer Book Trio - tablet and powerful notebook with dual boot OS
The Asus Transformer Book Trio connects Windows 8 with Android and consists of two separate parts:
- The tablet itself is powered by an Intel Atom processor and only runs on the Android operating system. It has an 11.6-inch display that resolves in Full HD and has built-in 16 gigabyte flash memory.
- For this purpose, a so-called base unit is supplied, to which the tablet can be docked. This contains full notebook equipment with a keyboard, Intel Core i5 processor, 500 gigabyte HDD and preinstalled Windows 8 operating system.
- If the tablet and keyboard unit are connected, the user can switch seamlessly between Android and Windows. A restart is not necessary.

Why are there so few tablets with dual boot?
- Other manufacturers had already planned and introduced corresponding devices - such as Samsung with the "Ative Q" model.
- However, this concept apparently violates certain patent rights, so that this and other prototypes have not been put on sale. There was no official declaration from the manufacturer.
