TAE box - how do I find out the number?
If you change the provider for your telephone or internet connection, it may ask for the number of your TAE socket. You can find out what this is and how to find out the number here.
What is the TAE number?
You can connect your telephones and your router to the network via the telecommunications connection unit, or TAE for short.
- Every household with a mains connection has at least one TAE socket. The network operator assigns this connection a number under which it can be reached.
- The TAE number often coincides with the normal landline number. If you have just moved in, it could be the phone number of the previous tenant. However, if the person has taken his number with him, your connection could no longer have a number.
Where can I find the TAE number?
As you may have noticed, you will not find the number on the TAE box itself. To find it, follow these steps:
- Connect a telephone directly to the TAE socket.
- Now call the number from a cell phone that you think is the number of the TAE socket. First try the landline number of the house. If the phone does not ring, try the number of the previous tenant.
- If no number imaginable works, your TAE box will most likely no longer have a number. Then you should call the Telekom to get information about your TAE number. You can find an overview of the hotlines here.
