Add tags to audio files
You can also add tags to your audio files later, so that you can, for example, sort your music collection better. This practical tip shows you how this works with the freeware "Mp3tag".
Edit track information of music files
In the picture gallery you will find the individual steps again in pictures.
- Download the "Mp3tag" program and run it after installation.
- If you would like to edit the tags for an entire album, click on "File" in the top left and select "Change directory" in the context menu. Search for the directory in Explorer and click on "Select folder".
- If you want to edit a single audio file, you can also drag and drop it into the "Mp3tag" window.
- Under "Mp3tag", select the audio file (s) from which you want to edit the information. In the left bar you can see the tags that have been stored in the music file so far.
- Fill in the fields on the left. For example, specify the artist or add a genre.
- To save the tags, click the diskette icon in the top left. Alternatively, save the tags with the key combination [Ctrl] + [S].
These instructions refer to Mp3tag v2.59a. In the next practical tip we will show you how to optimally manage your music collection with Foobar 2000.
