Move taskbar - how it works
The taskbar can be easily moved under Windows, for example to place it on the right or top edge of the screen. From time to time, however, the start bar also appears to be magically sticking itself to another side of the screen. Learn how to move the Windows taskbar back where it should go here.
How to move the Windows taskbar
To move the taskbar, you may have to detach it first.
- Right click on a free part of the taskbar (see screenshot) - do not click on any program icon that is displayed in the taskbar.
- If there is a check mark in front of "Fix taskbar", click this button to detach the taskbar.
- Now click and hold the taskbar with the left mouse button and drive to the edge where the Windows taskbar is to be attached. For example, just move the mouse to the right and release the mouse button there. If you click on the edge of the taskbar, you can enlarge it if you need more space for icons.
- To ensure that the taskbar now stays there and cannot be moved accidentally, you can now repeat the first step and activate "Fix taskbar" again.
