If your taskbar is suddenly gone, many work steps are only possible via detours. The disappearance of the toolbar can have several causes. We'll show you how to show them again.
Taskbar gone - first aid
- Hidden: If you have only hidden your taskbar, move the mouse to the top, bottom, left and right edge so that the bar reappears. With a right click> "Properties"> "Automatically hide taskbar", it is displayed again permanently.
- Error in Windows: If Windows no longer shows the taskbar, open the Control Panel. Here you can start the same menu via the options "Display and Customization" and "Taskbar and Navigation".
- Restart: If this does not help, there is still a restart that will bring everything back into balance. Alternatively, you can also open the Task Manager using the key combination [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [Esc] and restart the "Explorer.exe" process.
Taskbar disappeared: delete registry entry
If none of the above approaches lead to success, the problem lies somewhat deeper. But there is also a solution for this:
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens. Enter "regedit" there and confirm with "OK".
- The registry editor will now open. Since you have to delete an entry, you should back up the registry beforehand. Read here how it works.
- Then navigate to the following path on the left: HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / StuckRects2.
- Right-click on "Settings" and select the "Delete" option. Confirm with "Yes" and restart your computer. The entry is created again and the taskbar should be visible again.
