Keyboard: One key is stuck - what to do?
If a key is stuck on your keyboard, you can usually solve the problem with little effort. You can find out how to do this in this practical tip.
Keyboard: One key is stuck
Before you get to the keyboard, you should unplug the keyboard from the PC or shut down the laptop. So no unwanted key combination is pressed. This also prevents damage to the laptop.
- In some cases, pressing the button several times can help. Gently pushing up, down, left and right can already release the button.
- If sand and crumbs are caught in the keyboard, turn the keyboard upside down and shake it gently. With an external keyboard, you can be a bit rougher than with a laptop keyboard.
- The vacuum cleaner also does a good job in this case. If you vacuum the keyboard thoroughly, dust, dirt and crumbs will be removed.
- If none of this helps, you have to remove the button. To do this, start with two objects to the left and right of the button and pry them up slightly. Here, among other things, toothpicks, tweezers, nail arrows or pocket knives are suitable. Carefully clean the button with your finger and insert it again.
