Keyboard with touchpad: 3 great models compared
If you don't have a laptop, you don't have to do without a touchpad. We present 3 strong keyboards with integrated mouse replacement and many other practical functions.
Logitech K400 Plus Touch: wireless keyboard with touchpad
Admittedly, the Logitech K400 Plus Touch does not look really noble in its plastic housing in black or white. Nevertheless, the wireless keyboard makes a solid impression when working.
- Features: The Logitech K400 Plus Touch offers a full QWERTY layout and sends your entries via WLAN to the supplied USB receiver. According to the manufacturer, the range is around 10 meters. For operation you need two AA batteries that last around 2 years with regular use.
- Touchpad: The touchpad on the Logitech keyboard has the actual touch surface that you use to move the mouse and two buttons for the left and right mouse buttons. You can further customize the keyboard functions and save gestures using the supplied Logitech software. For example, you can zoom with two fingers and start a program with three fingers.
- Special features: The number pad on the keyboard must give way to the touchpad. For this purpose, you will find three small multimedia buttons with which you can start and pause your music playback and switch between individual songs.
- Price: The black version of the Logitech K400 Plus Touch is available from around 30 euros. For the white edition about 10 euros more will be charged.
1byone touch keyboard: Mobile bargain model
If you don't want to spend a fortune on a keyboard with a touchpad, you should take a closer look at the 1byone model.
- Equipment: You connect the keyboard to your PC, smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. Since the model is very light and narrow, it can be used perfectly for working on the bus or train. The built-in 500mAh lithium battery ensures run times of up to 83 hours.
- Touchpad: The mouse replacement is located under the actual keys on the 1byone keyboard. The touchpad is slightly smaller than the Logitech model and does not have separate buttons for the left and right mouse buttons. They are firmly integrated in the touchpad.
- Special features: Multimedia buttons, backlighting or other special features are not to be expected with the affordable Bluetooth model. However, the built-in power saving mode is great: If you don't use the keyboard for ten minutes, it automatically switches to sleep mode to save energy.
- Price: At around 16 euros, the Bluetooth keyboard is by far the cheapest model in our comparison.
Rii K12: design keyboard with integrated touchpad
A simple mix of black buttons and blue accents makes the Rii K12 a real eye-catcher. But the keyboard also has a lot to offer technically.
- Equipment: The Rii K12 is available with a 2.4 GHz USB receiver or with an integrated Bluetooth transmitter. This means that you can use the keyboard on a PC as well as on tablets and smartphones. However, the battery should only last for a few weeks to months if used frequently.
- Touchpad: The touchpad takes up around a fifth of the keyboard. It extends over the entire height of the Rii K12 and has two buttons for the right and left mouse button integrated. In addition, there is multitouch support so that you can operate your PC with swiping gestures.
- Special features: The mini keyboard offers countless multimedia keys with which you can control your music playback. There are also special buttons for copying and pasting as well as a button to start the browser. Particularly practical: after three minutes of inactivity, the keyboard automatically goes into standby. You can also switch off the device completely using a power switch.
- Price: The Rii K12 currently costs around 30 euros - regardless of the version.
When buying a new keyboard, you should not only pay attention to the touchpad. We will tell you which properties are still important in a detailed purchase advice.
