Keyboard: Remove keys - how it works
Do you want to clean your keyboard thoroughly or replace a defective key? We explain what you need to consider when removing buttons.
Removing keys from a laptop keyboard
- If you want to remove several keys at once, it is a good idea to first snap a picture of your keyboard. This means that every key will find the right place at the end.
- The laptop keyboard is not as robust and parts break off quickly. You should therefore be particularly careful.
- There are springs and plastic parts under the button. Be careful not to damage them.
- Take two small slotted screwdrivers and slide one under the button on the left and the other on the right.
- It is important that you only lift the outer edge.
- If you now carefully pull up both screwdrivers, the button will be released.
Remove keys from a computer keyboard
- Again, you should take a photo of the keyboard before removing multiple keys.
- Now you can remove the desired buttons with a slotted screwdriver.
- To do this, place the screwdriver under the edge of the button and carefully lift it up.
- You can also tilt the screwdriver slightly to achieve leverage.
- The button can now be easily released.
