One wrong key press and the keyboard does what it wants. So instead of the desired letters, there are often only numbers. We'll show you how you can easily move a misaligned keyboard.
1. Numbers instead of letters
You can often easily resolve this phenomenon ("third-party assignment of the keys") with [Fn] + [Num]. Depending on the model, it may also be sufficient to press the "Num" key and the problem is also solved.
2. "Y" instead of "Z"
Here you accidentally set the keyboard to "English". Press [Alt] + [Shift] to undo this.
3. Text is overwritten
If your text input automatically "eats up" existing letters, you only need to press [Ins] to put an end to it. The command stands for insert and automatically replaces existing letters with new ones.
4. All letters are capitalized
The Caps Lock key is activated here: Simply press the upper key with the large arrow pointing down (via [Ctrl]).
5. Check the keyboard settings
- Enter "Keyboards and input methods" in the Windows search.
- With a click on the button "Change keyboards" you can check the settings such as "Language" and "Key combinations".

Last possibility: hardware defect
- If these instructions do not help you, it is quite possible that your keyboard has a non-repairable defect. The only help here is to buy a new keyboard. There are good offers on Saturn, for example.
- We also regularly test new office and gamer keyboards. But not all models are really recommended. So that you do not make a wrong purchase, you will find all test results on our overview page.
