If you want to rename individual files or folders, you only need the right key combination. We'll tell you the right shortcut for Windows and MacOS.
Windows and Mac: Rename files with a keyboard shortcut
Especially if you want to rename several files or folders in a row, you can save a lot of time with the right key combination:
- Windows: First open Windows Explorer and select the file you want to rename. If you then press the [F2] key, the file name is automatically selected and you can rename the file. Finally confirm your entry with [Enter].
- MacOS: First open the Finder on your MacBook or iMac and select the desired file or folder. Then press the [Enter] key to rename the file. You accept your entries again with [Enter].
