Teamspeak: The first settings
The first team peak settings are important for the program to work smoothly. You should therefore configure your microphone and enter the server data correctly. In our guide you will find out how it works.
Prepare Teamspeak for the first use
You can communicate with friends via Teamspeak. A microphone is required for this. You can get the software for Windows (32-bit), Windows (64-bit) and MacOS in our download portal.
- After installation, select the "Setup Assistant" menu item under "Settings".
- Enter your nickname. Your friends will see it on the servers.
- After clicking on "Next" you have the choice between "voice activation" and "push-to-talk". With voice activation, your microphone automatically reacts to your voice. If you prefer to activate the microphone at the touch of a button, select "Push-To-Talk".
- Then carry out a microphone test. If you have chosen "voice activation", you can still adjust the sensitivity of the microphone.
- In the next window you can set hotkeys for certain functions such as "turn off the speaker" or "turn off the microphone".
- Finally, adjust the settings for the team peak voice.
Enter the correct server data in Teamspeak
In order to connect to a Teamspeak server, you have to enter the correct data. To do this, you should contact the owner of the Teamspeak server.
- Click on the "Connect" menu item and enter the exact server address. Pay particular attention to the last numbers after a colon in the server address: They are often forgotten or entered in the wrong place.
- If there is a password for the channel, enter this too.
- Connect to the server, you will see the individual channels and active users. Double-click on a channel and start the voice chat.
The practical tip refers to an iMac under OS X 10.8.5.
