Teamspeak or Skype: The best tool for gaming
In this article we show you whether you should use Teamspeak or Skype to gamble. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Read on to find out more.
Teamspeak vs. Skype - This is what distinguishes Teamspeak
Teamspeak is the most popular VoIP gaming program. The good voice quality and useful features bring you and your colleagues a significant advantage while playing.
- Teamspeak has a good voice quality but is also very dependent on the microphone. The voice is transmitted clearly and you understand your teammates well at all times. You can turn certain players quieter and louder here with a simple click of the mouse.
- You can also mute yourself using a hotkey or cancel the voice transmission for a short time. This is particularly useful if you are not alone at home or want to watch a video without a babble of voices in between.
- Teamspeak only connects you via servers. It is therefore necessary to own one yourself or to join someone else's server. Of course, this can be problematic if you don't know a server that you can just stay on.
- It is usually worth renting a server from four people. Then the costs for everyone are very low and you always have your own server on which you can talk undisturbed. Alternatively, you can create your own TeamSpeak server.
Teamspeak vs. Skype - Microsoft's Skype can
The well-known service Skype is of course also suitable for gaming. We have listed the advantages and disadvantages for you.
- As you know, the voice quality of Skype is very good. You will notice, however, that Teamspeak has the edge here. With several players in particular, you quickly notice the difference. But for two, Skype is great to use.
- You can also find volume settings on Skype. However, these are somewhat more hidden than with Teamspeak and cannot be set individually for each caller. You also have hotkeys on Skype. If you play for a long time, these are extremely practical and hard to imagine.
- Since Skype establishes a connection between individual or multiple clients, you do not need a server here. This is useful if you want to spontaneously use VoIP with someone because you don't have to worry about a server.
- The only problem is that conference calls with several people require Skype Premium. People are also not as easy to add to the conversation as with Teamspeak. Therefore, you should use Teamspeak for several people.
Conclusion: Teamspeak convinced gamers more
- If you gamble regularly with more than one person, Teamspeak is the better choice. In our picture gallery we show you how to set up and use the VoIP tool perfectly.
- If you play very rarely, Skype will do the trick.
- Tip: In addition to Skype and Teamspeak, there are other wonderful alternatives. In particular, you should take a closer look at Mumble and Ventrilo.
