Technology killer: these 7 things kill PC and smartphone
Don't imitate: These 7 things are sheer horror for PC, smartphone and other devices - true technology killers. Because in the worst case, your device is just scrap. We'll show you what to watch out for.
1. Technology killer: Wrong power supply
You must know that you cannot charge your laptop or smartphone with just any power supply. But even if the plug fits, you should stay away from it:
- Even if the plug looks identical, the power supply can have a different voltage.
- If the voltage is too high, the battery is usually over after a short time, and later the laptop is gone.
- Therefore, when buying a third-party power supply, make sure that it is suitable for your laptop model and has the correct voltage.
2. Moisture kills the cell phone
Smartphone in the toilet? Sure, there is usually not much left to save. However, small amounts of water are often enough to switch off the sensitive technology:
- The everyday risk is called "condensation": This likes to accumulate under the display in winter.
- The reason for this is the abrupt change in temperature, for example when you come out of the cold into a warm house.
- Unfortunately, the manufacturer's warranty does not cover such damage.
- Many manufacturers boast of waterproof smartphones (IP68), but condensation can still cause damage. Because protection from water doesn't last forever - sooner or later condensation can form. In addition, the first manufacturers have already warned of the ingress of water in their supposedly waterproof smartphones.
3. Electrostatic charge kills the computer
- Just grab the doorknob and you will get a punch. The computer is no different if you touch it instead of the doorknob.
- While the doorknob doesn't really care, the electrostatic charge can damage the mainboard and CPU.
- Our tip: an earthing bracelet.
4. Technology horror: cleaning to the defect
If you love your smartphone, clean it. But be careful: a lot can go wrong here ...
- Even if the displays are quite robust and mostly made of glass, you should not use household cleaning agents. Glass cleaners and other chemicals are taboo - this also applies to all-purpose cleaners.
- We show in a separate article how it works with microfiber cloth and display cleaner.
5. Bad error: Clean the computer with compressed air
- Inside your computer, you can remove the dust with a compressed air cleaner.
- That's right, but you have to be careful here too: you quickly blow the dust into a small gap and it is very difficult to get it out. This can damage contacts or even make the mainboard unusable.
6. Severe scratches due to "transport damage"
- The smartphone is well kept in your pocket because it is soft and does not scratch. But other things quickly end up in your pocket: coins, keys ...
- These can damage the display and cause permanent damage. A cell phone case and a lot of caution are therefore mandatory.
- You should also move laptops as little as possible. Because shaking or shaking, connectors and small parts can come loose.
7. Technology killer: magnetic fields
The manufacturers of laptops and smartphones are installing more and more technology in an ever smaller space. This is why hard drives are often not completely shielded. But this is necessary because the data is magnetically written to the hard disk. Therefore:
- Stay away from magnetic fields, such as loudspeakers or microwaves. In extreme cases, they can delete the data.
- Something different naturally applies to SSDs and other flash memories. You shouldn't overdo it here, but the hard drives are much more robust.
