Make tea bags yourself - how it works
Making tea bags yourself is not only a way to portion tea perfectly, but also to give it away. With the right utensils and a little flair, you can conjure up a tea bag with your favorite aroma.
Make tea bags yourself: materials
Tea bags only consist of a container, a string and the tea. For this reason, you do not need anything else to start this craft project:
- Light cotton fabric such as batiste or madapolam or tea filter with a width of about 20 centimeters. Wash the cotton fabric before use.
- Food-safe cord, for example kitchen thread
- compasses
- scissors
- Loose tea to your taste from herbal to black to matte tea. Do not use matcha. This cannot be used in tea bags.
Make tea bags yourself in detail
If you want to make a tea bag, you do not have to sew or glue. Our instructions explain exactly how this works:
- Take a piece of cloth or filter paper and spread it out in front of you. Use the compass to draw a circle with a diameter of 15 to 20 centimeters in the middle and cut it out.
- Now take about 2 grams of tea and fill it with a teaspoon directly into the center of the cut circle. Be careful not to take too much tea.
- Gather up the edges and form a bag that is tied tightly with the cord.
- Be sure to leave a string on one side and tie several knots at the end. The bag hangs from this and can be lowered into or removed from the cup.
- Best of all, you can even personalize this form of teabag and provide it with specially made signs. These are then simply stapled onto the cord.
If you don't just want to use tea bags, you should definitely prepare Matcha tea. In the next tip, we will show you how the healthy drink from Japan is drunk and what effect it has.
