Take the phone number with you at Fonic - how it works
With a new Fonic contract, you can take the old phone number with you and you do not have to send a new number to your contacts. In this article, we explain how you have to proceed to successfully transfer your phone number and what you should consider.
Take phone number to Fonic with you
At Fonic you get a new phone number for the new contract, but then you can take over the old number relatively quickly:
- At Fonic, you can only apply for a number when you have received and activated your new SIM card. To do this, follow [//praxistipps.chip.de/fonic-sim-karte-freischalten-so-gehts_39789|these steps]].
- You can find the necessary settings to subsequently transfer the old telephone number under "My Fonic" under "Call number portability".
- Above all, you have to make sure that the contract data of your previous provider matches that of Fonic.
- Your contract with your previous supplier must also be terminated and the termination confirmed.
- You can request that the number be taken with your previous provider at the earliest 90 days before the end of the contract and at the latest 90 days after the end of the contract.
- If you want to take your number with you from an ongoing contract, you must inform your previous provider of this with a so-called "porting declaration". To do this, an email to the customer service of the old provider is usually sufficient, or you can use a form from the provider.
- With a prepaid contract, there is usually no need for termination, just a porting declaration.
- If you have submitted this to the old provider, Fonic will take care of the rest and keep you up to date via SMS.
