If the world of emojis is too boring for you, you can create your own stickers in Messenger Telegram. We'll show you how it's done.
Preparations: Create your own stickers with Telegram
- You can upload your personal sticker on your PC or on your smartphone. Since you have to work on the PC anyway, we advise you to use the desktop version of Telegram.
- If you want to convert your own pictures into stickers, the pictures must not be larger than 512 x 512 pixels. Square pictures are therefore best suited. However, one side can also be shorter.
Step 1: Activate sticker bot in Telegram
- Start Telegram and look for the contact "@stickers". The sticker bot will now guide you step by step through the setup.
- Send the sticker bot the message "/ start", the setup can begin. Use "/ newpack" to assign a name for the new sticker package.
- After you have submitted a name for the sticker package, you will be asked to upload the sticker.
Step 2: Create your own stickers for Telegram
Note: In addition to the correct dimensions and the appropriate file format, the sticker needs a transparent background. Simple tools such as Paint are no longer sufficient for this. In this guide we use the free program Gimp.
- Start Gimp and click on "New" under "File" in the upper left corner.
- In the image size, select the value 512 for the height and width.
- If you click the "OK" button, a new empty file is opened in Gimp.
- Select "Add Alpha Channel" under "Transparency" at the top of the "Layer" category.
- Mark the entire area with the key combination [Ctrl] + [A] and remove the content with [Ctrl] + [X].
- Now you can simply drag any desired images or emojis into Gimp with the mouse and edit them if necessary.
- Click on "File" at the top left and select the "Export" item.
- At the bottom right, select the "PNG image (* .webp)" option.
- Then save the sticker on your desktop under the desired name.

Step 3: Upload your own stickers to Telegram
- Switch back to Telegram and drag the created sticker into the window. The sticker is then sent to the sticker bot.
- Now send an emoji to the sticker bot, which describes your sticker quite well. Thus, the sticker will be suggested to you later when you enter the emojis.
- You can now repeat the steps for all other stickers. To end the process, send the command "/ publish".
- Finally, give the sticker package a public name. With this name, a link is created which you can use to share your sticker package with your friends.
