Impregnating the carpet: With these tips it works
Impregnate your carpet so that it is protected from dirt and moisture. Treated this way, your floor covering stays beautiful for longer.
How to properly impregnate your carpet
Long-term protection pays off, especially for permanently installed, high-quality carpets.
- Clean your carpet before you impregnate it. Vacuum the floor covering thoroughly, even in the corners. Then apply cleaning powder or foam. Remove the agent after the specified exposure time with the vacuum cleaner.
- Use impregnation spray on permanently installed floors. Carpets made from natural fibers such as cotton absorb more spray. They are better protected than artificial fibers. Make sure that the spray matches your carpet type. You can find information on the packaging of the spray.
- First test the impregnation spray in an inconspicuous area, for example in the corner. So you can see straight away whether the product leaves unsightly stains or changes the color of the carpet.
- Spray the impregnating agent on the carpet over half a square meter. Work it in with the yellow side of a sponge. Repeat this process until the entire surface is impregnated.
- Let the carpet dry. You can find out how long this takes in the instructions for use of the impregnation spray. Only then can you step on the carpet again.
- Your carpet now takes on less dirt and is easier to clean. However, it must be maintained regularly. Heavy impurities, such as from red wine, should always be removed immediately, despite impregnation.
