Play Terraria in multiplayer - how it works
The adventure game Terraria can also be played in multiplayer mode. You need a server for this, similar to Minecraft. In this practical tip you can read how to create it and join other servers.
Step 1: set up the Terraria server
To play online you need a server:
- Start Terraria. Click on "Multiplayer" and "Host & Play".
- Now choose the character you want to play with or create a new one.
- Now you have to choose a world to run on the server.
- Enter a password for the server.
- Now the server is started and other players can join the game with your IP address and the server password. You may have to set your router so that the server can be accessed from outside.
Step 2: join the server
How to join a server:
- Start Terraria.
- Click on "Multiplayer" and then on "Join".
- Then select the character you want to play with on the server.
- Now you have to enter the server IP address and the password.
- Terraria connects to the server and you can play with other players.
