Remove TeslaCrypt - does it work?
If the TeslaCrypt ransomware has infected your PC, it is unfortunately too late. The malware cannot currently be removed and the encrypted data cannot be decrypted. We will show you how to protect yourself from the malware and what you can still do in an emergency.
TeslaCrypt: How to protect yourself against ransomware
The malware TeslaCrypt is currently spreading via email. It appears in the ZIP attachments of spam emails. If you install the file it contains, data will be encrypted on your PC. A ransom note then appears. You will be asked to pay a ransom so that your data is decrypted again.
- Take care: only open attachments from trustworthy senders.
- Make a backup of your data. In the worst case, you have unencrypted copies of your encrypted data.
- Be sure to install anti-virus software such as Avast AntiVirus on your PC. Even a malware fighter like Malwarebytes can't hurt.
- Check mail attachments carefully before opening them. In other practical tips, we will show you, for example, how to check emails for viruses in Thunderbird.
