Insert text in videos - how it works
If you want to insert texts into videos, you can choose from several programs. We'll show you how it works with Windows Movie Maker.
Windows Movie Maker: Insert text into videos
There are different versions of the Movie Maker for the different operating systems: For Windows 7 and 8, it is best to use the Windows Movie Maker 2012, for Vista the Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 and for Windows XP the classic Windows Movie Maker.
- Start the tool after the installation and drag the video into the program window with the mouse. If the format is not supported, you can use the "Freemake Video Converter" to convert it into an AVI file, for example.
- Switch to the "Home" tab in the top left and click on the "Image title" button under the "Add" category. This way you put your text over the video.
- Now write the desired text in the input field above the video. You can then change the shape, color and animation above. Then move the text to the desired position on the picture itself.
- The most important thing here is the set time period: Under the "Customize" category, you can set the period of the displayed text to the hundredth of a second.
- Note: You can not only put the text in the Movie Maker over the video, but also create a title or credits with your text in the same way.
In the next practical tip, we will show you how to cut videos correctly with Windows Movie Maker.
