Thief 4: The 5 best tips
We have selected the five best tips for the new game Thief 4 for you.
1. The right sneak in Thief 4
You will creep forward in many places. Here is a list of tips to keep in mind.
- In the dark, you are almost invisible to enemies. The light crystal at the bottom left of the HUD shows how visible you are in three stages.
- Not only guards, but also animals can blow up your cover. For example, if you spot a bird, you should avoid loud noises and fast movements.
- With dogs, on the other hand, direct visual contact with you is enough for the dogs to sound the alarm. It is therefore best to take cover immediately.
2. Fight in Thief 4
- It is difficult for you to get rid of a guard that once came to your attention. Only a very good hiding place or a big lead will bring you to safety.
- Alarmed guards often call other colleagues for help. So you will often have to deal with several opponents at once.
- Try to remotely take down as many guards as possible with explosion, broadhead, or sawtooth arrows.
- If you then switch to close combat, you will initially avoid the opponents' attacks. After you have brought the opponent to the ground, you can finally defeat him with a "finisher".
- If you are forced to flee from many guards, use a light bomb. While your enemies are blinded, you can simply disappear into the dark again.
3. Blur traces in Thief
You should not leave any traces on your raids as they could alert guards.
- Close all doors that you have opened. By pressing the interaction button, doors can be closed as well as opened.
- You should also always leave safes, paintings and showcases as you originally found them.
4. Distract guards
In some places you can no longer just sneak around. Here you have to outsmart the guards.
- Try to use bottles or glasses to your advantage. You can throw these objects and distract the guards with the clinking noise.
- Vases and lanterns can be destroyed with a targeted shot. This also distracts guards for a brief moment.
- You can also use a water arrow to extinguish torches. The guard standing next to it will then briefly be busy lighting the torch again.
5. Locks made easy
- Make sure you always have enough time to crack a lock. The best thing to do is wait for a patrolling guard to walk past it before moving on to the castle.
- If a guard sleeps next to the safe, you can still crack the lock. If a sound is made when the attempt is unsuccessful, the guard is startled. You should then disappear into the dark for a moment.
- Remember: To move a lock bolt, the display does not have to be completely blue. A blue shimmer is usually enough.
