Thunderbird: delete duplicate emails
Duplicate emails can quickly create chaos in Thunderbird. In this guide, we show you how to delete these duplicates.
Delete duplicate emails in Thunderbird
Thunderbird does not have its own function for finding and deleting duplicate emails. However, you can retrofit them with a free add-on. A suitable extension is "Remove Duplicate Messages". First you have to install the add-on at Thunderbird.
- Right-click the folder you want to search for duplicates. In the context menu, select "Remove duplicate messages ...".
- You will now see a list of all duplicate messages in this folder. With a left click you can display the message, with a right click you can call up extended information and with a double click you can switch between delete (DEL) and keep (KEEP).
- Mark the emails and click on the "Delete selection" button.
- Finally, confirm the security question with "OK". Then all emails marked with "DEL" will be deleted.
For even more order, you should activate the spam filter in Thunderbird.
