Thunderbird: Sort / arrange accounts manually
Thunderbird always sorts email accounts in the order in which you create them. If you would like to arrange the accounts differently, you will not find an appropriate option for this in Thunderbird. In this practical tip, we will show you how you can sort the accounts however you like.
So you can arrange your Thunderbird accounts yourself
Thunderbird does not require you to sort your email accounts in the order that is most convenient for you.
- The solution is called "Manually sort folders" and is one of the countless add-ons that are available for Thunderbird.
- First download the add-on "Manually sort folders" from the official Mozilla website and integrate it into Thunderbird.
- To do this, go to the "Menu button" and call up the "Add-ons" option.
- Click on the gear in the Add-ons Manager and select "Install add-on from file" in the pull-down menu.
- Then find the add-on and install it.
Reorder email accounts in Thunderbird
After restarting Thunderbird, you can rearrange your accounts in the email client and rearrange them as often as you like.
- To do this, go back to the Thunderbird Add-ons Manager and select the "Extensions".
- Then click on the "Settings" of the add-on "Manually sort folders".
- In the menu "Change account and folder order" you can then arrange your email accounts as you like, as well as reordering the folders within the email accounts.
