Thunderbird is not responding - you can do that
Thanks to Thunderbird, your emails are always at hand. However, if the program does not respond, this may be due to defective add-ons. This practical tip shows you what you can do about it.
Thunderbird is not responding - what to do?
With the following tips Thunderbird works again without problems:
- A defective add-on may be responsible for Thunderbird not responding anymore. First start Thunderbird in safe mode by holding down the Shift key and double-clicking the shortcut.
- Then click on "Help" in the top right corner and select the item "Restart with deactivated add-ons". If Thunderbird then no longer hangs, you should remove the add-ons one after the other via the settings.
- Alternatively, running Thunderbird as an administrator can help. To do this, right-click on the shortcut and select "Run as administrator".
- In some cases, the profile folder is also damaged, which is why Thunderbird stops responding. Go to the "AppData"> "Local"> "Thunderbird" folder and rename the "Profiles" folder to "Profiles_alt". You can see this folder if you are showing hidden files.
- It may also be due to the fact that Thunderbird is blocked by your antivirus or firewall, so temporarily disable both services to test this.
- Reinstalling Thunderbird can also help.
